Ben Duranske, CEO/COFounder Beam Beam is a fintech compliance and product leader with deep experience across the financial services, regulatory, and technology industries. At Beam, Ben and the team are building the world’s most advanced suspicious activity reporting and transaction monitoring platform. Before co-founding Beam, Ben served as Chief Compliance Officer of Facebook Payments from the subsidiary’s 2010 formation through mid-2015. While at Facebook, Ben built a global compliance team, managed worldwide licenses and regulator relationships, and directed internal compliance software builds and external compliance software requisition. Prior to Facebook, Ben worked at PayPal, and before that, he represented payments and platform companies in private practice as an attorney. Ben has also consulted with and served on the Boards of Directors of several fintechs, including both startups and established companies, and taught classes at Santa Clara Law. He earned his J.D. at the University of California Berkeley, Boalt Hall.
Michael Gilroy Partner Canaan Partners Michael invests in entrepreneurs building enterprise software and fintech companies. He is interested in talking to founders building the next generation enterprise tools and fintechs solving the structural issues in finance. Deeply passionate about building the entrepreneurial community in fintech, Michael launched Canaan’s FinTech Central in 2015, a quarterly event series covering trends in fintech. Previously, Michael advised technology companies with GCA Savvian and Matrix Capital. He received a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
Perla Stoeckert, CCO Tipaliti Perla joined Tipalti in November 2018 as the Chief Compliance Officer. She has more than 15 years experience in financial services, including firms engaged in foreign exchange, online payments, funds transfers, and deposit operations. Prior to Tipalti, Perla has served in executive global roles in risk and compliance at OFX, FXCM, and Commonwealth Foreign Exchange (MoneyCorp). She has managed risk and compliance operations in Asia, Australia, Canada, Europe, Middle East, U.K., and U.S. Perla received her Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and a Minor in International Relations from the Georgia Institute of Technology and has earned Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business LEAD Certificate on Corporate Innovation.
Jeremy Kaufmann Principal Scale Venture Partners Jeremy focuses on companies adding machine intelligence to business and vertical software, especially industries untouched by the first decade of SaaS . As well, he is excited about frontier technologies including drones, robotics, and novel applications of AI across the IOT stack and his efforts have contributed to investments in KeepTruckin, Solvvy, Cognata, and TechSee. Prior to joining ScaleVP, Jeremy worked on the Sales Strategy and Business Operations team at Salesforce, where he served as a strategy lead for the SMB business. Additionally, he has worked as a data scientist at Analysis Group, focused on health economics and drug pricing and as a research assistant at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, with a concentration on consumer credit and loan accumulation.
Colleen McDonald Structured Finance Partner Sheppard Mullin Colleen is a seasoned securitization and structured finance attorney with significant market know-how in terms of both working capital financing and capital markets transactions. Colleen works with banks, marketplace lenders and alternative capital providers, fintech companies, sellers and investors to structure debt transactions. Colleen, and her colleagues in Sheppard Mullin’s Financial Services Group, help clients navigate the U.S. regulatory structure particularly as it relates to lending products.
